Open Application for Visiting Lecturers at CGI
The Center for Global India invites applications for Visiting Lecturers. The description for a Visiting Lecturer is below. All applications for visiting positions must include a supporting email from a Princeton faculty member associated with the Center for Global India with whom they will work closely.
When to apply (revised deadline): Applications submitted before August 31, 2024 will be reviewed for start in the next academic year, as early as October 2024. All applications will be reviewed by the CGI Manager, Director, and Faculty Executive Committee.
Typical funding includes Honoria, air travel, local accommodation, facility charges and a dinner/reception.
How to apply - Proposals must be emailed to [email protected] as a single document including the below:
- A CV or bio confirming the national or international profile of the visitor (two pages max)
- A description of the proposed collaborative activity with the nominating CGI faculty (two pages max)
- A description of the proposed value to the mission and vision of CGI and its concept of global India (one page max)
- Priority will be given to CGI prioritized themes/topics as noted on our website
- A copy of an email from a Princeton Faculty member who will work closely with the visitor is required. Applications without written intent to engage from a Princeton faculty member will be returned without review.
- The potential financial support of other departments/units (welcomed and valued however it is not required)
Visiting Lecturer (typically one semester, although full academic year may be considered as well): Teaching one to two courses per semester or one course and other scholarly activities to be determined in consultation with the Princeton faculty sponsor. The proposal must include (in addition to the other materials)a description of the proposed course with a preliminary abbreviated syllabus, a statement of its contribution to Global India topics and the number of Princeton students directly impacted by the course (5 pages, maximum), an endorsement from the chair of the department that will offer the course, a timeline of when the course will be designed and then taught. Funding for the visiting lectureship, to be developed in consultation with CGI and the department chair offering the course.
The proposal will be evaluated by the CGI Faculty Executive Committee based on the following criteria:
- Innovation in education
- Potential impact (e.g., the number of students taking the class, its potential interdisciplinary reach, the number of courses adopting a particular module, the creation of new partnerships in India, etc.)
- Fit with the concept of Global India
- Priority for addressing Global India research themes
- Potential for long-term engagement of Princeton University students
- Other criteria noted in this RFP
