Bio/Description

Kyle Chan is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Lecturer in the Sociology Department at Princeton University and affiliated with the M. S. Chadha Center for Global India and the Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China. His research focuses on state capacity, bureaucracy, and infrastructure development in India and China. Drawing on two years of fieldwork in India and China, his previous work compared railway development and the role of the state in these two countries. His current research examines the intersection of industrial policy and sustainable infrastructure development in India and China. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from Princeton.
